Revival Arts!

Spotlight on contemporary woman involved in Islamic Art:

Revival Arts

Inspired by the remembrance of the Divine, Revival arts seeks to blend contemporary artistic mediums with traditional (Islamic or Arabic) artistic expressions. Each piece maintains a careful balance between its surroundings and itself to create a harmonious composition. Revival Arts, then, seeks simply to ‘revive’ art that combines a plethora of mediums to create something truly unique.

A California native, Lubna Shaikh studied fine arts at San Jose State University. Having a passion for Arabic Calligraphy, she traveled to Cairo and studied under Master Arabic Calligrapher Ustadh Syed Fathy. Lubna Shaikh also teaches Art and Arabic Calligraphy in the community.

Most of the art pieces are custom made and thus allow a variegated touch that matches the artist’s vision as well as the emotions that the patron wants the piece to imbue. The aim is to allow each piece to resonate with the patron and hold personal meaning, thus completing the very purpose of art: a very personal meaning, using methods and modes that can be appreciated by many.

Picking a name

Five women came together; all creative, hard-working, and dedicated to the mission of our new organization.   And with them come five different sets of standards, ideas, and understandings.    Sometimes five flowers make a bouquet…and sometimes they don’t!
