Fact: 93% of juvenile sexual assault victims know their attacker, 34.2% of attackers were family members and 58.7% were acquaintances and only 7% of the perpetrators were strangers to the victim.

Child abuse is the physical, sexual, emotional mistreatment, or neglect of a child. Square One has set a mission to bring awareness to one of the darkest problem that faces our Muslim community. About 80% of 21 year olds that were abused as children met criteria for at least one psychological disorder. It’s a fact that the experience of sexual abuse for a child distorts her or his self-concept, orientation to the world and affective capabilities.

We as a community must take action to bring awareness to this ever-growing problem that has stayed silent for too long. Please stay tuned for our program to launch Mid 2012, we hope our community is ready to hear the problems that can bring about the full potential of our young boys and girls.
